Occasionally parents buy a pony thinking their child will like it...and then the child decides to ride western or is uninterested. The parents (or grandparents) end up with a pony they don't know quite what to do with, especially if the pony is young and not trained well. Please contact me if you have a pony that you want me to train or sell.

GF Well to Do "Tex"

March 11, 2007 Congratulations to Rachel Forbes in Wrentham, MA who is the lucky young lady to purchase Tex and become his partner.

Here is the e-mail I received from Rachel after her first ride on Tex at her farm (Shadowfax) in Millis, MA.

Hi Anita,
Tex's first lesson was awesome! We started off slow to see how he'd take
everything, and his attitude was "I can do this, this is so easy!" He was
totally comfortable flatting, and we jumped around a course without a
problem. Melissa was really excited with how well he did. Afterwards, (since
it was about 70 degrees out!!) I took him for a walk outside and he was great.
Hope you don't miss him too much, everything is going really well here.
-Rachel

I miss him terribly but look forward to hearing from Rachel and seeing some photos of the new dynamic duo this spring.

July 29-30, 2006 UNH Dressage at the Seacoast. Dressage anyone??? Equitation? Tex competed in two Training Level 4 regional qualifying classes for the Great American Insurance Company championships. He was 8th out of 16 (63.8) and 9th out of 19 (63.4) entries! My dressage saddle was on him 8 times prior to the competition! (It has since been put back into storage!)
July 8, 2006 Congratulations to Tex! His hunter debut at the Shoreline Classic in Westbrook, Ct was an overwhelming success. Tex was Young Hunter Champion placing 2nd in both classes over fences and 1st in the hack. He also won the Connecticut open pleasure class! He placed 2nd in the special hunter hack and received prizes in the baby green division both on the flat (3rd) and over fences (3rd and 8th).
May 15, 2005 Happy 5th Birthday to "Tex". Tex shows great talent as a dressage horse, and is started over small jumps. Alas, he is NOT a pony, and measures around 15.1 at this writing. He doesn't mind being a horse though, because he really stands out as something special in the dressage ring and will also be an excellent Children's Hunter! He is looking forward to everyone reading book 2 of the Classic Spirit Series, Graze, Gaze, and Saddles Days, because there is a lot more about him in it!
December 31, 2004 Tex- Throughout this year, Tex has been learning and developing his skills under saddle. He has also started doing cross rails and even did some flying changes over poles on the ground! He can stretch long and low, has an elegant way of moving, and is very soft in the bridle. He is delightful, and I am looking forward to showing Tex in 2005.
June 6, 2004 Tex (Well To Do) competed at his first show at Bradford Equestrian Center, Bradford, MA. He won both walk/trot - Intro A and B Tests with scores of 61% and 61.4%. Tex was very thoughtful and obedient. I think he has a bit of the "ham" in him and seemed to enjoy the attention quite a bit.
April 1, 2004 Tex is moving to Bradford Equestrian Center to "officially" begin spring training. It is time to discover Tex's special talent, although with his exceptional good natured personality and affection, he is already special enough!
Summer/Fall 2003 Tex (Sky) turns 3 1/2 on November 15. We spent the summer together practicing lunging, long lining, and being ridden lightly at the walk and trot. It was REALLY exciting to canter Tex for the first time! He is sooooo comfortable and athletic!! I wonder what he will want to do most??? Hunter? Event? Dressage? He could physically do any of them, but I want him to do whatever he likes best! We will all have to wait and see......For now he is very furry and ready for a winter off before he begins his more "serious" work in the spring of 2004.
June 15, 2003 Tex, now 3 yrs. and one month to the day, has had a big Sunday. He traveled alone for the first time in a trailer, to a neighboring farm. His surroundings included large open pasture, plenty of horses, geese, chickens and dogs. He handled everything as if he had done it all his life---perfectly mannered, accepting, and content. He now walks and trots under tack. On to the canter!
May 2003 Happy Birthday to "Tex" who will be 3 on May 15. I started "riding" Tex the beginning of May. He will now walk around (and do short amounts of trotting) with a rider aboard, in his paddock. He is still growing too! He is now about 14.2 in front and 15.0+ behind. I'm thinking about dressage for him. He moves beautifully and without effort, carries himself very well!
July 19, 2002 Tex has now progressed to "leadline" and thinks its quite okay to have Anita aboard as he's led around by Jill Rider. Check back this fall to see more updated photos of Tex. He just keeps growing and getting better!
July 9, 2002 Tex was officially "backed" the last weekend of June! It is great to finally sit on him after working with him from the ground over the past one and one half years! Next photo you will see me on him.....
May 14, 2002 Happy Birthday to Tex who turns 2 on May 15!
April 24, 2002 Tex - Look for updated photos in the near future of Tex all tacked up. He has started learning to long line, and enjoys people and his short training sessions!
November 10, 2001 "Tex" the laid back gentle coming 2 year old is not likely to remain a pony. He is now 14.1 in front and 14.2 behind. He will be a small horse. He is a beautiful mover and is gentle and kind. He does not bite, kick, chew etc...He only knows how to be nice! The smallest children can handle him. If you are looking for a small horse to do short stirrup, dressage, event, or eventually the children's hunters, please contact me. He is very reasonably priced.
June 11, 2001 - Tex wore a bridle and was introduced to the round pen for the first time. He is attentive, likes people and enjoyed his new training.
GF Well to Do "Tex" Reg. 1/2 Welsh pony gelding. Foaled 5/15/2000. "TEX" looks more like a small THB (his other half). We aren't certain how his color will turn out - bay or grey! TEX is being handled regularly by children and is sweet and quiet. If you are looking for something that will be eye catching in the ring, this yearling is for you! Very reasonably priced. Sire: Cloe Olympic Medallion Dam: Well Versed.
